New Xbox Controller?

According to rumors floating around on the internet, there is to be a new Xbox 360 controller coming some time at the end of the year. The controller will feature a new and improved D-pad, one of the main criticisms of the current controller. Apparently you can turn the D-pad 90 degrees which will then raise the D-pad and make it more responsive. Supposedly aimed at fighting and arcade game fans (particularly something that needs high accuracy and response like Street Fighter), I personally find it a bit questionable whether I would want a D-pad raised particularly high for playing fighting games. However, any improvement to the accuracy and responsiveness of the D-pad will be much appreciated.

Whether these controllers will go alongside or replace the existing Xbox 360 controllers is as of yet unknown, but I’m sure it will all be cleared up in the very near future.
