Assassin’s Creed – Historical Action Adventure

Ubisoft’s big release of 2007, Assassin’s Creed has received mixed reviews from the major video gaming sites:
- GameSpot (Score: 9 out of 10) Xbox 360 PS3 – Assassin’s Creed is the kind of game you tell your friends about, and one that should be in your collection.
- GameSpy (Score: 3.5 out of 5) Xbox 360 PS3 – With Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft has tried to jump start its next monster franchise. Unfortunately, what it’s ended up with is a Frankenstein: powerful and wondrous to behold, but not quite what it was aiming for.
- IGN (Xbox 360 Score: 7.7 out of 10, PS3 Score: 7.5 out of 10) – The exploration aspects of Assassin’s Creed and the combat are both plusses in my book. But those two elements are only part of the whole.
Assassin’s Creed has won the Best Action Adventure Game in GameSpot Best of 2007 Awards.
“…These kind of free-form activities are at the heart of Assassin’s Creed. Yet for every action-packed sequence, there is a moment of pure beauty that will take your breath away. It’s all capped by exquisite controls that miraculously toe the line between player input and automation. This ease of adventuring, diversity of gameplay, and sense of freedom make it the best action adventure game of 2007.”
