February 11, 2008
Reviews for Super Mario Bros Brawl is now available online since its release in Japan. This list of reviews will be updated as more reviews are available online.
- IGN (Score: 9.5 out of 10) - You will play the game to death when you get it. But unlike so many single-player hits, Metroid and Mario included, you will still be playing and consequently loving Brawl in the months and years to come. It is one of the great multiplayer titles of the generation and simply not to be missed.
- Thunderbolt Games (Score: 10 out of 10) - This is the game to buy a Wii for, folks. Super Mario Galaxy may not have been that game, but this one definitely is. Brawl is easily the most fun I’ve had on a Wii, and could be the most fun I’ve had with a game in ages. It’s just that good.
- GamerNode (Score: 10 out of 10) - I have never seen more effort put into a video game than what has been shown in Brawl. With unbelievable multiplayer fighting, an enormous single player mode, and collectibles that will last for years, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t buy it.
- GameSpot (Score: 9.5 out of 10 Editors’ Choice) - Every now and then, a game comes along that is entirely must-have for every owner of the platforms it is released on. Last holiday season, Nintendo struck that kind of chord with Super Mario Galaxy, and now, less than six months later, that feat has been repeated with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Its simple controls and gameplay make it remarkably accessible to beginners yet still appealing to Smash Bros. veterans.
- GameSpy (Score: 4.5 out of 5) - This is going to be the game that Wii owners will be playing for the life of the system, and they’re going to love every minute of it.
